Margaret of Provence was the mother of Philip III of France. She was the daughter of Raymond Berenger IV, Count of Provence, and Beatrix of Savoy. She married King Louis IX of France in 1234 and they had ten children, including Philip III. Margaret was a devout Catholic and she was known for her charity and piety. She died in 1295 and was buried in the Basilica of Saint-Denis.
