Answer

Bernard Saisset was a bishop of Pamiers, one of Philip IV's fierce opponents. In 1296, Saisset denounced Philip's exactions on the Church, and was excommunicated by Pope Boniface VIII. Saisset was captured by Philip's men, imprisoned, and tried for treason. He was found guilty and executed in 1301.
