King Philip III was the title held by Philip IV of Spain in Portugal. Philip IV ascended to the Portuguese throne in 1621 after the death of his maternal grandfather, Philip III of Portugal. He ruled Portugal until 1640, when the Portuguese Restoration War led to the establishment of the House of Braganza as the new ruling dynasty of Portugal.
