German physicist Philipp Lenard was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1905 for his work on cathode rays and the discovery of many of their properties. Lenard was an early supporter of the Nazi party and was an outspoken anti-Semite. He used his Nobel Prize to support Nazi causes and was eventually expelled from the Heidelberg University.
