Heraclius the Elder was a prominent adversary of Phocas, the Roman Emperor from 602 to 610. He was a member of the Heraclian Dynasty and was the father of Emperor Heraclius. Heraclius the Elder led an unsuccessful rebellion against Phocas in 608. After his death, his son Heraclius led a successful rebellion against Phocas and became emperor in 610.
