Catholics legitimize a council anathematizing Photios, what is it called?

  • Second Council of Constantinople

  • Third Council of Constantinople

  • Fourth Council of Constantinople

  • Fifth Council of Constantinople

Answer

The Fourth Council of Constantinople was a church council convened by Pope Leo III in 869–870 to condemn the patriarch Photius I of Constantinople and his followers. The council, which was attended by a majority of eastern bishops, declared Photius to be a heretic and anathematized him. The council also confirmed the authority of the pope over the entire Christian Church.
