Pierre Monteux began to receive regular conducting engagements in 1907, when he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Concerts Lamoureux in Paris. He went on to conduct a number of other major orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
