Pope Pius I was a contemporary of the Roman Emperors Nerva, Trajan, and Hadrian. He was elected as Pope in AD 140 and served for around 15 years. Pius was a strong supporter of the Roman Catholic Church and worked to spread its teachings throughout the empire. He also helped to improve relations between the Church and the Roman government.
