The Newcastle Falcons are an English professional rugby union team based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear. They play in the Premiership, the top level of English rugby union. The club was founded in 1877 as Gosforth Football Club and adopted the name Newcastle Falcons in 1999. The Falcons have won the Premiership twice, in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
