Answer
Prince William of Gloucester was the son of Princess Alice and Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. He was born in 1941 and died in 1972. He was the only son of his parents and was therefore the heir to the Dukedom of Gloucester. However, he died before his father, so the title passed to his younger brother, Prince Richard.
