Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna was the mother of Victoria Melita. Maria Alexandrovna was the only daughter of Tsar Alexander II of Russia and Empress Marie Alexandrovna. She married Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, the second son of Queen Victoria, in 1874. Victoria Melita was their third child and only daughter.
