Proclus was taught philosophy by Syrion, who was a Neoplatonist philosopher and teacher. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and lived from 422 to 490 AD. He was a student of Ammonius Hermias, and after his death, he became the head of the Neoplatonic school in Athens.
