What happened in the Second Syrian War during Ptolemy II's reign?

  • Many of Ptolemy II's gains from the first war were lost

  • Ptolemy II gained more territories

  • A peace pact was signed

  • All military activities were suspended

Answer

The Second Syrian War, fought between Ptolemy II and Seleucus II during 246–241 BC, resulted in the loss of many of the territories gained by Ptolemy II in the First Syrian War. Seleucus II, with the support of his allies, successfully regained control of the Seleucid territories that had been ceded to Ptolemy II, including large parts of Asia Minor and northern Syria.
