Answer
Neoptolemus was the king of Epirus before Pyrrhus. He was the son of Achilles and Deidamia, the daughter of King Lycomedes of Scyros. Neoptolemus inherited the throne of Epirus from his uncle, Arybbas, in 357 BC. He ruled for 20 years, during which time he expanded the kingdom's territory and strengthened its alliances. Neoptolemus was killed in battle in 336 BC, and was succeeded by his son, Pyrrhus.
