Rashid al-Din Hamadani was a vizier (or prime minister) in the Ilkhanate court of the Mongol Empire, during the reign of the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan Khan (1295–1304). Rashid al-Din was a scholar and polymath, and his writings include a major history of the Mongols, the Jami' al-Tawarikh.
