In 1956, Ray Lindwall captained Australia in a Test match against the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. It was the only time he led the team in a Test, although he had previously captained Australia in two unofficial Tests against New Zealand in 1946. Lindwall was a highly respected fast bowler who took 228 wickets in 61 Tests for Australia.
