Sequoyah was not a contemporary of Red Cloud. He was a Cherokee silversmith who lived from 1770 to 1843 and created the Cherokee syllabary. Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, and Geronimo were all contemporaries of Red Cloud and played significant roles in Native American history during the same time period.
