Rex Ryan coached seven college football teams throughout his career. He began as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky University in 1987 and later held assistant coaching positions at Morehead State University, New Mexico Highlands University, and Kansas State University. In 1999, he became the defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State University, and in 2007, he was promoted to head coach at the University of Maryland.
