Zsigmondy was born in 1865. He was a Hungarian chemist who is best known for his work on colloids. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1925 for his research on the heterogeneous nature of colloidal solutions and for his methods for determining the sizes and shapes of the particles in these solutions.
