Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of the inside of the body. It was initially developed by Paul Lauterbur and Peter Mansfield in the 1970s, based on the principles of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) discovered by Ernst in 1952.
