Rigoberta Menchú is a Maya indigenous woman from Guatemala. She is a human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She is a member of the K’iche’ ethnic group, the largest Maya group in Guatemala. Menchú has worked to promote the rights of indigenous peoples and has been an outspoken critic of the Guatemalan government.
