Yes, Rob Ford contested the mayoral election while undergoing treatment for his cancer. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, called pleomorphic liposarcoma, in December 2014. The cancer was found in his abdomen, and he underwent surgery to remove it. He also received chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Despite his treatment, Ford continued to campaign for re-election as mayor of Toronto.
