Robbie Robertson is a Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer. He was a member of the Canadian rock band The Band, and co-wrote many of their songs, including "The Weight". The song was released in 1968 as the lead single from the album Music from Big Pink. It was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
