Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941), was a British Army officer and writer, famed as the founder of the Scouting movement. As a young Army officer, he was recognised for his military scouting abilities, and was instrumental in developing military training and tactics. After his retirement from the Army, he set up the Boy Scouts, which soon became an international movement.
