Robert Coulondre was a French diplomat who served as Ambassador to Germany from 1938 to 1940. He was a strong opponent of the Nazi regime and tried to warn the French government of the dangers of appeasement. After the fall of France, he was imprisoned by the Nazis and died in captivity in 1945.
