Robert II, Duke of Normandy, died in 1134. He was the son of William the Conqueror and his wife Matilda of Flanders. Robert II was a skilled military leader and was responsible for many of the Norman conquests in England and France. He was also a patron of the arts and literature. Robert II was succeeded by his son Henry I.
