Susan Berman, a friend of Durst and the daughter of mobster Davie Berman, was found executed in her Los Angeles home in December 2000. Prosecutors believed that Durst killed Berman because she knew too much about his involvement in the disappearance of his first wife, Kathleen McCormack Durst, in 1982. After nearly 20 years as a fugitive, Durst was arrested in 2015 and convicted of Berman's murder in 2021.
