Robert Guéï was born on 16 March 1941. He was a military officer and politician who served as the President of the Ivory Coast from 24 December 1999 to 26 October 2000. He came to power in a military coup that ousted President Henri Konan Bédié. Guéï was overthrown in a popular uprising in October 2000. He died in 2011 at the age of 70.
