David II of Scotland succeeded Robert I as King of Scots in 1329. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth de Burgh. He was only five years old when he succeeded his father, so the kingdom was ruled by regents until he came of age in 1346. David II was a weak king and was often dominated by his favourites.
