Rodion Yakovlevich Malinovsky served as Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union from 1957 to 1967. He was a decorated veteran of the Second World War and had previously served as Chief of the General Staff of the Soviet Armed Forces. As Minister of Defence, Malinovsky oversaw the Soviet military during the Cold War and played a key role in the Cuban Missile Crisis.
