Roger Sherman represented Connecticut in the US Senate. He was a delegate to the Continental Congress from Connecticut from 1774 to 1781, and was a member of the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence. He was also a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. After the ratification of the Constitution, Sherman was elected to the Senate from Connecticut and served from 1789 to 1791.
