Roland Burris was a politician and attorney. He served as the Attorney General of Illinois from 1979 to 1983 and as a U.S. Senator from Illinois from 1993 to 1999. He is the only African-American to have served as both the Attorney General of Illinois and a U.S. Senator from Illinois.
