The Union, also known as the Centre-Left Alliance, was a political coalition in Italy that was formed in 2005 and led by Romano Prodi. The coalition was composed of a variety of centre-left parties, including the Democratic Party, the Italian Democratic Socialists, the Italian Socialist Party, the Communist Refoundation Party, and the Greens. The Union won the 2006 Italian general elections, and Prodi became Prime Minister.
