Answer
Adolph Zukor, the president of Famous Players–Lasky, blacklisted Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle following a film scandal wherein Arbuckle was implicated in the death of aspiring actress Virginia Rappe in 1921. Zukor’s studio canceled production on all upcoming Arbuckle films, and other studios did the same. Although acquitted of manslaughter and subsequently of conspiracy to defeat justice, the scandal tarnished Arbuckle’s reputation—once celebrated as the biggest male star of the 1910s.
