Rudolf Höss was a member of the SS force. He joined the Nazi party in 1922 and the SS in 1925. He was the commandant of Auschwitz from 1940 to 1943 and was responsible for the deaths of over 1 million people. Höss was captured by the Allies in 1945 and was executed in 1947.
