Who typically nominates the LDS Church president?

  • Church members

  • Board of Directors

  • Quorum of the Twelve

  • Public Vote

Answer

The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is nominated by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the second-highest governing body in the church. This nomination must be unanimous. Upon the death or incapacitation of the church president or the dissolution of the First Presidency for any other reason, the quorum president becomes the acting president of the church.
