Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas was a Sahabah, or companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and a prominent military commander. He is best known for leading the Muslim forces to victory in the Battle of Al-Qadisiyyah, which marked the decisive defeat of the Sassanid Empire and the beginning of the Muslim conquest of Persia.
