The Zintan militia, a Libyan rebel group, captured Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, in November 2011. The capture took place in the town of Zintan, approximately 130 kilometers southwest of Tripoli, during the Libyan Civil War. Saif al-Islam was wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the civil war.
