Answer
Bangladeshi is the descent of the State of Bengal. The Bengal region was historically a part of the Indian subcontinent, but was partitioned in 1947 into West Bengal (India) and East Bengal (Pakistan). In 1971, East Bengal gained independence and became Bangladesh. The State of Bengal, which is located in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, is the successor state to the former Bengal region.
