Sam Loxton was a right-handed batsman who played for South Australia between 1888 and 1895. He scored 4,396 runs at an average of 29.32, with seven centuries and 18 half-centuries. He was also a useful medium-pace bowler, taking 33 wickets at an average of 32.67.
