Sándor Petőfi was born in 1823 in Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary. He was a poet, writer, and revolutionary who is considered to be one of the most important figures in Hungarian literature. His work was often political in nature, and he was a vocal critic of the Hungarian government. He was also a member of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, and he was killed in battle in 1849.
