Answer
Bhindranwale's Dharam Yudh Morcha aimed for the creation of a largely autonomous Punjab within India. The morcha was formed in 1982 in response to the perceived threat of Sikh religious identity and culture being eroded by the Indian government. Bhindranwale and his followers believed that Punjab should be granted greater autonomy from the Indian government and that Sikhs should have the right to practice their religion freely.
