Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was a leader of the Sikh religious institution called Damdami Taksal. He was a prominent figure in the Sikh separatist movement in the Punjab region of India during the 1970s and 1980s. He was killed in the 1984 Operation Blue Star, in which the Indian Army stormed the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.
