In 2014, Sarina Wiegman became the assistant manager of the Netherlands women's national team. She had previously been the manager of the Netherlands under-19 team, and had also been a player for the national team. In her role as assistant manager, Wiegman helped the Netherlands to win the 2017 European Championship, and she was also named as the UEFA Women's Coach of the Year.
