S. Radhakrishnan was the Spalding Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethics at the University of Oxford from 1936 to 1952. He was the first Indian to hold a professorship at the University of Oxford. During his time at Oxford, he wrote a number of books on Indian philosophy and religion, including "An Idealist View of Life" and "The Hindu View of Life".
