Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan held the King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Calcutta from 1921 to 1932. He was a philosopher, scholar, and statesman who served as the first Vice President and the second President of India. He was a strong advocate of Indian independence and a proponent of Hindu philosophy. Radhakrishnan was a prolific writer and his works have been translated into many languages.
