Éamon de Valera served as Taoiseach of Ireland from 1932 to 1948 and again from 1951 to 1954. During his first term, from 1932 to 1948, Seán T. O'Kelly held the position of Tánaiste, the deputy head of government and Minister for Finance. O'Kelly went on to serve as the second President of Ireland from 1945 to 1959.
