Murad III was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1574 to 1595. He succeeded his father, Selim II, and was succeeded by his son, Mehmed III. Murad III was a weak and ineffectual ruler who allowed his mother, Nurbanu Sultan, to rule in his place. He was also known for his love of women and his harem of over 300 concubines.
