Ghulam Qadir was the prisoner of Shah Alam II when he was blinded. Ghulam Qadir was the grandson of Nadir Shah and a claimant to the throne of Persia. He had been imprisoned by Shah Alam II in the Red Fort in Delhi since 1739. In 1759, Ghulam Qadir escaped from the Red Fort and led an uprising against Shah Alam II. He captured Delhi and blinded Shah Alam II.
