The answer is local fishermen. Shoichi Yokoi was a Japanese soldier who hid in the jungles of Guam after World War II. He remained there for 28 years, surviving by eating plants and animals and building shelters. In 1972, two local fishermen, Jesus Duenas and Manuel DeGracia, found him while they were spearfishing.
